The following is a selection of projects and images related to my interests in museum studies and natural history.
WRITTEN ALL OVER US (2019)
Directed a multimedia video for capstone project at the culmination of the Narrative Studies Major. Researched the objects and visual pedagogy of natural history as it relates to evolution. Utilized aesthetics of epistemology in combination with the playfulness of found footage and unscripted audio (from my carefree teenage brother). Combined interests in natural history, art theory, and aesthetics. Utilized skills in design, research, interview, writing, and compilation.
LAND - Zine about personal history relating to the North Carolina coast, which is also the site where the Wright Brothers flew their first manned gliders. Made combining personal photographs, Wright Brothers/Wright Brothers National Memorial ephemera, headlines about the vulnerable North Carolina coastline, hand drawn illustrations, and hand written journal entry from 2003 (when I attended the centennial of first flight at age 6). 2019.
PHASES OF SELENE - Zine created for Classical Perspectives minor capstone project. Exploring intersection of feminism, visual culture, and art history within the classical myth of Selene and Endymion. Examining classical texts, Roman sarcophagi, 18th century paintings, feminist and visual culture theory texts. 2019.
